Here is a recipe for making boba tea at home:


Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup tapioca pearls
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 black tea bag
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup



Instructions:
  • Boil 4 cups of water in a pot.
  • Rinse the tapioca pearls in cold water and drain.
  • Once the water is boiling, add the tapioca pearls to the pot and stir occasionally.
  • Reduce heat to medium and cook the pearls for approximately 20-25 minutes, or until they are soft and translucent.
  • While the pearls are cooking, brew the black tea by steeping the tea bag in 1 cup of boiling water for 3-5 minutes.
  • In a separate saucepan, heat the milk until it is hot but not boiling.
  • Add sugar to the hot tea and stir until it is fully dissolved.
  • Combine the sweetened tea, hot milk, and 2 tablespoons of simple syrup in a large cup.
  • Once the tapioca pearls are cooked, drain them and rinse them in cold water.
  • Add the cooked tapioca pearls to the cup and gently stir to combine.


Serve your boba tea with a wide straw to accommodate the tapioca pearls, and enjoy!

Note: You can adjust the sweetness of the tea to your liking by adding more or less simple syrup.
